International Literacy Day

Literacy Volunteers will celebrate International Literacy Day on September 8, 2011. Founded by The United Nations Educational,     Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), International   Literacy Day is celebrated worldwide.  The intent of International Literacy Day is to call  attention to the importance of advancing worldwide literacy.

Libraries celebrating International  Literacy Day will include the Cicero Public Library, Bellwood Public Library, Elmwood Park Public  Library, Maywood Public Library, River Forest Public Library, Berwyn Public Library, Westchester Public Library and the Forest Park Public Library. Check out your local library for upcoming events celerating Literacy Month throughout all of September.
